Blue Island Police E-911 Communications Open House The City of Blue Island E-911 Communications Center has completed phase one of our upgrade project. The center employees now enjoy a new break room complete with custom cabinets and a new sink. The center added a new color scheme to match our new ergonomically efficient dispatch console furniture, by Watson Dispatch furniture. New soundproof carpet was added along with upgrades to the Motorola Radio system. Just prior to our renovations we upgraded or Enhanced 911 telephone system. The new telephone system is a Plant system that was installed by Motorola. The heating and air conditioning system was also replaced and is monitored by the administrative staff through a Total Automation system over the Internet. The entire 911 staff became involved at one time or another with the total upgrade. We of course experienced the usual project ups and downs however we did not miss a single emergency call or fail to serve our residents and surrounding communities. We are very proud of our telecommunicators for the excellent job they did during our construction. On January 27, 2009 we hosted an open house for the community. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to dedicate our new E-911 Communications Center. Guests were shown the new equipment and special features. Those that attended commented on the overall appearance and advancements that were a part of the facility. Light refreshments were also enjoyed. A past to present slide show was also available for viewing by the guests.
This bi-monthly newsletter will be a part of the Blue Island Police Department website under the 911-Center Page. www.blueislandpolice.org We also wish to thank the Blue Island City Council, Mayor D. Peloquin, the 911 Emergency Telephone System Board, and Chief D. Hoglund for their support. Special thanks to our E-911 Communications Administrative Staff, without their assistance and hard work, this phase one project would not have been possible.
