In Loving Memory of
David E. Schultz
Born
June 16, 1956
At Rest
November 10, 2009

We little knew that morning,
God was going to call your name,
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The Day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide,
And thought we cannot see you,
You are always by our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.

BLUE ISLAND Gives Green Light to Traffic Safety System To

Protect Citizens from Dangerous Red Light Runners
Red Light Cameras Increase Safety at Dangerous Intersections

BLUE ISLAND, IL - The citizens of BLUE ISLAND can expect their roads to be much safer following the announcement today that it is initiating a photo-based traffic safety system to monitor red light runners at dangerous intersections in BLUE ISLAND.

Each year, nearly 1,000 fatalities in the United States are the direct result of collisions caused by red light running. Across the nation, communities are reducing the number of deaths and injuries from red light offenses by 20 to 50 percent, simply by implementing red light cameras.

“Red light accidents are typically side-impact crashes, causing the most severe damage and fatalities. By working closely with Redflex, we’ve identified several critical intersections where red light running and accidents are of major concern to public safety,” said Chief Douglas Hoglund. “With the Redflex system in place, we expect to see a significant reduction in red-light-related accidents and deaths at selected intersections,” Hoglund said.

In addition to saving lives, red light cameras yield significant cost savings to motorists and the community. There are fewer property damage claims, lower insurance premiums, reduced medical expenses, and increased productivity for those commuting through once-dangerous intersections.

Redflex will begin installing red light cameras at 119th Street and Western Ave., 127th Street and Gregory and 127th Street and Kedzie over the next few months. Warning letters will be issued initially and citations will be issued by January of 2010. The fine is $100.00.
